Before Pistachio, before Strawberry, there was this. The Classic Tiramisu is where SuGre’s tiramisu range started, and it is still the recipe everything else gets measured against. If you want to understand what we mean by “the Italian way,” this is the answer.
The Recipe
Savoiardi — Italian sponge fingers — are soaked in espresso until they are soft but not soggy, then layered with a silky mascarpone cream made from mascarpone cheese, fresh cream, eggs, and sugar. Each layer is finished with a generous dusting of premium cocoa powder. That is the entire recipe. No shortcuts, no stabilisers, nothing to disguise — just the classic done properly, with the coffee, cream, and cocoa each doing their job.
The result is light, creamy, and balanced: a proper espresso flavour running through a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture. It is handmade in small batches, which is the only way we have found to keep it consistent.
The Banana Option
For anyone who wants a twist on the original, we offer the Classic with a layer of freshly sliced banana added between the mascarpone and the savoiardi, for +£0.30. The banana adds a naturally sweet, creamy note that pairs well with the espresso without changing the character of the dessert — it is still a tiramisu, just with one extra layer of personality.
This is the one I made first, before any of the others existed. Everything we have added since — the pistachio, the strawberry — had to be good enough to sit next to this. That is still the bar.

The Occasion for It
This is the everyday-to-special tiramisu — the one that works as a treat after a weeknight dinner and as the dessert at a proper celebration. It is the most requested item on our menu for a reason: coffee lovers reliably love it, and it travels well for gifting or for adding to a dessert table alongside our cakes.
How to Order
Individual portions are £4.49 (£4.79 with banana), and a 12-portion Family Tray is £36.99 (£40.49 with banana) — handmade fresh in small batches. Message Gresa on WhatsApp or Instagram to check availability for your date.
Some things do not need reinventing. This is one of them.
